Zine is a foldable 8 1/2 in x 11 in template and includes 11 pages). Original caption from Instagram reads:

Events that would wipe out life on our planet happen all the time throughout the cosmos. A gamma ray burst. A dying star. An asteroid collision. They are, by cosmic standards, normal occurrences. At least one of them has happened here on Earth too, we were just lucky enough not to experience it. But Earth's next mass level extinction event is here — and it didn’t come from outer space. It’s been living and growing for 500 years.

It’s called capitalism. Since it grew from the material and ideological roots of European colonization, it has been eating the planet's wildlife, its forests, air, and biodiversity. And it has brought climate crisis upon us.

It's important to note that the vast majority of us didn’t choose capitalism. It was chosen for us with the gun of of starvation, medical apartheid, water deprivation, and homelessness pointed at our heads. Nonetheless, the challenge to dismantle it will still fall to us. If in all that coercion we can still choose to collectively value life as a rare and precarious gift to nourish and uphold, then we will have taken the first steps in undoing the culture of death and destruction capitalism thrives on. This zine is a small step in remembering how rare and sacred life is. It's our ode to building lives of joy and sustainability.
